Taking important steps to strengthen and streamline the private security industry in the state, Punjab Police in partnership with Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here today. The first stakeholder conference on the Private Security Agencies Regulation (PSAR) Act was held at the Northern Region Headquarters.
The conference was held under the leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, with the aim of promoting cooperation between private security agencies and law enforcement.
Punjab Home Affairs Department Secretary Gurkirat Kripal Singh along with Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Security SS Srivastava inaugurated the conference at the CII North Region Headquarters here. Secretary Industry, Commerce and Investment Promotion Punjab DPS Kharbanda, ADGP Traffic AS Roy and Chairman CII Punjab Abhishek Gupta were also present on this occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Secretary Gurkirat Kripal Singh assured the Punjab Government of full support to the private security agencies while ensuring the mandatory requirements under the Act. He said that P.S.A.R. The rules are being updated under the Act.
Secretary Home also appreciated the role of private security agencies in providing employment to the youth.
Addressing the inaugural session, ADGP SS Srivastava said that the objective of this conference is to promote a safe and constructive environment for public, private security agencies and law enforcement to work through interaction.
Emphasizing the important role of personal security in assisting law enforcement, he called on P.S.A.R. Highlighted key aspects of the Act, including the terms and conditions, including concerns about its misuse.
Appreciating their role, ADGP said that their role in personal security and security structure is important. He added that we want all of you (private security forces) to work cooperatively and our aim is to cooperate with you.
The day-long conference was followed by sessions on various topics including Private Security: Emerging Trends and Challenges Ahead; training and skill development; Role of Women in Private Security Sector; issues related to workers’ rights and welfare; concerns about potential challenges in the private security industry; Opportunities for industry collaboration and partnership and innovation and technology development in the private security sector are included. Experts from the private security industry, law enforcement and government agencies shared their expertise while exploring challenges and best practices.
This initiative reflects Punjab Police’s commitment to regulate and promote the private security sector.
