Mohali Admin Motivates Farmers and Villagers to make maximum use of Stubble Management Machinery
Farmers Sensitised of the directives of the Supreme Court and NGT to curb farm Fires
ADC Viraj Tidke and SDM Amit Gupta among the administrative officers remain in the field on Wednesday

To ensure the strict compliance of Supreme Court and National Green Tribunal directives to curb farm fire incidents on the ground, the Mohali Administration reached out to farmers and villagers on Wednesday too to sensitise them to the environmental hazards of stubble burning and to use stubble management machinery available in their proximity.
Divulging the details, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that as per the directions of the Punjab Government to visit the hot-spot areas of the previous year to ensure zero farm fire incidents this year, the teams based on senior district administrative functionaries like ADCs, SDMs, Revenue Officers, Agricultural and other department officers remained in the field on Wednesday despite of public holiday.
She said that the Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Viraj S Tidke, SDM Derabassi Amit Gupta, SDM Gurmander Singh, PCS Trainee Rupinder Pal Singh Tehsildar Arjun Singh Grewal, Assistant Director Animal Husbandry Dr Lokesh, Chief Agricultural Officer Dr Gurmail Singh and his team visited the villages Granga, Niamaia, Machhlipur, Nabipur, Mehmudpur, Behlolpur, Sinhpur, Daun, Sharbatgarh, Chhat, Bhankharpur, Nanumajra, Sukhgarh, Dusarna, Khizrabad, Dhanora, Togan, Singhpura, Nagla, Sanauli, Gazipur, Siau and Barri villages.
The administrative teams motivated and convinced the farmers not to burn stubble. In particular, they were given assurance that the entire machinery given in the village and surroundings for Crop Residue Management is available for their use. The Villagers were also apprised of the directions of the Supreme Court, NGT and CAQM (Commission for Air Quality Management in NCR) on the subject and asked to comply with these strictly.
Besides the Nodal Officers and Cluster officers were also directed to ensure no stubble burning cases in their jurisdiction and take immediate measures like nearby deputed fire brigades in case of occurrence of any farm fire incident. The police officials of the convened police stations have also been deputed to keep a close vigil on the hot spot areas.
