चंडीगढ़/Chandigarh/SANGHOL-TIMES/KEWAL-BHARTI/July9, 2025 – चंडीगढ़ प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी के अध्यक्ष एच.एस. लक्की ने शहर में तेजी से बिगड़ती कानून व्यवस्था पर गहरी चिंता व्यक्त की है, खासकर कालोनियों में। उन्होंने चोरी, डकैती, मारपीट, हाल ही में हुई हत्याओं और सबसे खतरनाक रूप से युवाओं के बीच तेजी से फैल रही नशे की लत जैसे अपराधों में बढ़ोतरी को बेहद चिंताजनक बताया। उन्होंने चंडीगढ़ की कानून व्यवस्था पर चर्चा के लिए तुरंत सर्वदलीय बैठक बुलाने की मांग की है।
एक तीखे बयान में लक्की ने कहा, “चंडीगढ़ जो कभी शांति, अनुशासन और सुरक्षा के लिए जाना जाता था, अब अपराधों की बढ़ती प्रवृत्ति का गवाह बन रहा है। सबसे अधिक चिंता की बात यह है कि कामकाजी वर्ग की कालोनियों और संवेदनशील इलाकों में नशे की लत तेजी से फैल रही है। यह सिर्फ कानून व्यवस्था का मसला नहीं, बल्कि एक सामाजिक संकट है जो किसी भी समय विस्फोट कर सकता है।”
कांग्रेस नेता ने कहा कि हाल के दिनों में आपराधिक गतिविधियों में आई तेज़ बढ़ोतरी ने आम लोगों के मन में असुरक्षा और डर पैदा कर दिया है। उन्होंने धनास, रामदरबार, मोलोया, मौली जागरां, बापू धाम और सेक्टर 25 जैसे इलाकों का उल्लेख किया, जहाँ छोटी चोरी, चैन स्नैचिंग और नशे से जुड़ी घटनाएं तेजी से बढ़ रही हैं।
हालाँकि, लक्की ने चंडीगढ़ पुलिस की पेशेवर दक्षता और योग्य अधिकारियों की क्षमता को स्वीकार करते हुए कहा कि यदि उन्हें उचित दिशा और समर्थन मिले तो वे कानून व्यवस्था बहाल करने में सक्षम हैं।
“चंडीगढ़ पुलिस ने हमेशा उच्च स्तर की पुलिसिंग को बनाए रखा है, लेकिन अब तत्काल और दृश्यमान कार्रवाई की आवश्यकता है। मैं वरिष्ठ पुलिस नेतृत्व से आग्रह करता हूँ कि वे प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में नियमित फ्लैग मार्च करें, बीट पेट्रोलिंग को मजबूत करें, निगरानी के उपकरण बढ़ाएँ और सबसे ज़रूरी – नशा बेचने वालों और तस्करों पर सख्त कार्रवाई करें,” लक्की ने कहा।
उन्होंने प्रशासन से अपील की कि वह रेजिडेंट वेलफेयर एसोसिएशनों और गैर-सरकारी संगठनों के साथ समन्वय कर, सामुदायिक भागीदारी से अपराध नियंत्रण और नशामुक्ति कार्यक्रमों को आगे बढ़ाए।
“हमारे नागरिकों की सुरक्षा से कोई समझौता नहीं किया जा सकता। प्रशासन और पुलिस की यह जिम्मेदारी है कि वे हर निवासी—चाहे वह पॉश सेक्टर में हो या दूरदराज की कालोनी में—को सुरक्षित और संरक्षित महसूस कराएँ। चंडीगढ़ को अपराध और नशे की दिशा में नहीं जाने देना चाहिए। हमें अभी कदम उठाने होंगे,” उन्होंने कहा।
चंडीगढ़ प्रदेश कांग्रेस कमेटी इस मुद्दे पर एक ज्ञापन प्रशासक और पुलिस महानिदेशक को सौंपेगी और जन सुरक्षा एवं सामाजिक कल्याण के हित में इस विषय को लगातार उठाती रहेगी।

Lucky, President of the Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee, has expressed deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating law and order situation in the city, particularly in the colonies. He highlighted the alarming increase in crimes such as thefts, burglaries, assaults, recent murder s and most worryingly, the growing menace of drugs that is ruining the lives of countless youth across various sectors and colonies of Chandigarh. He demanded an immediate all party meeting to discuss the law and order situation in chandigarh.
In a strongly worded statement, Lucky said, “Chandigarh, once known for its peace, discipline, and safety, is now seeing a worrisome trend of criminal activities. What is most concerning is the spread of drug abuse in working-class colonies and areas where vulnerable populations reside. This is not just a law and order issue—it is a social crisis waiting to explode.”
The Congress leader emphasized that the recent spurt in criminal activities has left the residents feeling insecure and anxious. He cited incidents reported from areas like Dhanas, ramdarbar , Maloya, Mauli Jagran, Bapu Dham, and Sector 25, where petty crimes, chain snatchings, and drug-related cases have seen a sharp rise.
Lucky, however, acknowledged the professionalism and capabilities of the Chandigarh Police and said that the force has several experienced and able officers who are more than capable of restoring law and order—if given the necessary direction and support.
“Chandigarh Police has always maintained a high standard of policing, but urgent and visible action is now needed. I urge the senior police leadership to conduct regular flag marches in the most affected areas, strengthen beat patrolling, install more surveillance infrastructure, and most importantly, launch a robust crackdown on drug suppliers and peddlers,” said Lucky.
He also appealed to the Administration to coordinate with residents’ welfare associations and NGOs to involve the community in crime prevention and drug de-addiction programs.
“The safety of our citizens is non-negotiable. It is the responsibility of the administration and the police to ensure every resident—be it in the upscale sectors or the far-off colonies—feels secure and protected. Let Chandigarh not go down the path of criminalization and addiction. We must act now,” he concluded.
The Chandigarh Pradesh Congress Committee will also be submitting a memorandum to the Administrator and the DGP, urging for immediate corrective measures, and will continue to raise this issue in the interest of public safety and social well-being.
